My husband and I have been together for almost twenty years this year. We just celebrated ten years of marriage in October. As you may know, we have three lovely kids so life is busy. So many things go by the wayside when you are busy. It is very easy to lose sight of your marriage when you have hundreds of other things to do.
But, one of the most important things you can do for your kids is to keep your marriage strong. Divorce is not something I ever want to deal with.
So, as a way to make our marriage stronger we have always tried to make time for intimacy a few times a week. Many of my friends are surprised when they hear how often we have sex.
They always respond “we don’t have time to have sex four or five times a week! I’m too busy.”
Well, I can no help but laugh at that. No one has time for it when you have jobs, kids, houses, dinners and more. I am not sitting around my house doing nothing till it is time to have sex! We ‘make’ time. Because it is important to us. We carve out time to be together because we want to stay together.
I know friends that are only intimate once or twice a month. They wonder why they argue, why they are short tempered and feel distant.
I’m not a therapist, but I would guess that there is not enough intimacy between them.
Having sex a few times a week doesn’t have to take a ton of time either. I mean if you are that busy that you can’t manage a half hour a few times a week to be a spouse then your life is too busy!
So, we decided, my husband and I, that we would use our intimacy as a sort of savings plan.
Every time we make love we add $5 to a jar. The idea is that we use our intimacy as a savings plan both for our marriage and for money. Our idea is that in a few years we will have enough money to go on a vacation, just the two of us.
When I approached my husband with this idea he was excited. Anything to have more sex, right? At first we considered the amount. $1 seemed too little, $20 and we would feel like we couldn’t afford it!! So $5 seemed perfect.
Does this seem like something you could work toward? It is definitely an incentive. To see how much money we can save! Right now we are saving about $20 a week. So we figure in two years we should have enough money for a cruise or trip to Vegas.
What would you do with a savings plan like this?

I must say, this is a great plan. When you count your total savings later to go on that special Vegas trip, you will then know how many times you’ve been intimate with hubby for that period of time. This is more than enough incentive to create more savings, I think.
Great idea! My husband would love this plan, he’s not much of a saver so I am sure that a bedroom boom boom would have him throwing $5′s in the jar!
