Miracle-Gro Expand’n Gro Plant Mix Review & Giveaway

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts® for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don’t have much of  a green thumb.  As a matter of fact, when we bought our first house it came with a 12 year old indoor Banana Palm named Rosie that the previous owner graciously left to us with specific instructions on how to care for her.  It was too large to take with him, and he spent several minutes saying goodbye to it on his final day in the home.  We bought the house in November and by June sweet Rosie was a goner and we were stuck with an enormous planter to get rid of.  Poor Rosie, I told myself she died of a broken heart.

As a result I stick with easy things for my garden.  We always add plants to our window boxes and usually by the end of the summer they are pathetic.  But we try each year!

So, when I got the Expand ‘n Gro™ I was excited at the prospect of having better luck with my plants this year.

First  noticed that it is very light and fluffy.  The directions say to fill the pot or box 1/3 of the way full and the soil will expand.  Boy does it!  It was like a sponge, expanding and sucking up the water.  It was also very light and fluffy, easy to manage and looked like healthy soil.

Here is the scoop on Expand ‘n Gro™:

  • It feeds your plants up to 6 months
  • Expands up to 3 times when water is added
  • Apparently improves your soil
  • Contains a unique blend of plant food and all natural coconut coir fiber
  • retains more moisture than basic potting soil

So far my plants look healthy, of course it has only been a few days, but give me a few months of forgetting to water them and I am sure I will be glad I tried this stuff!

Well, I don’t have too much of a Green Thumb at all but one year, I used a Miracle Gro spray for my outdoor plants and that was the best I’d ever seen a plant. It was a fern and it grew and grew and was gorgeous. So, I definitely wanted to enter this when I saw Miracle-Gro. Their products really do work

I could use all the help I can get– I have 2 plants in the house– and I have no idea how they have made it for a year– everything else has died– and these 2 don’t look all that healthy–lol I am always picking dead off both of them. Now lets talk about the outside garden– I wish–lol– I am going to try to get a tomato plant this year– So I am going to give it a shot….Ask me latr in the season if I get any tomatoes.

I have a pretty good green thumb when it comes to gardening vegetables and flower gardens. However inside not so much, if its green and alive I’ll sadly kill it.

  7. Anne Perry says:

I grow cactus, tomatoes, & flowers well.

  8. Latonya R says:

I do not have a green thumb basically like you I forget to water. I do however start out strong with the planting correctly and taking care of them but this could help tremendously with upkeep when I forget too.

I definitely don’t have a green thumb. I think I could learn, but my husband takes care of all the gardening and that’s OK with me :)
