MiniMaestro Diaper Review

MiniMaestro Diaper Review

I was lucky enough to win several MiniMaestro diapers from their site.  I love trying new diapers and especially ones from new companies, which MiniMaestro is.  They are a Canadian company that just started in May 2010.

To buy a MiniMaestro diaper visit HERE.  You can also purchase them in sets and additional inserts.

Fit

This diaper fit my son very well.  It is a pocket diaper, the pocket opening is conveniently located at the back and has double elastic at the pocket opening.  I love where the opening is located because it makes it very easy to remove the insert, even with a poopy diaper.
  • Diaper type- Pocket
  • Closure type- Velcro, the Velcro works wonderfully but I did notice that it has worn quickly on the front of the diaper (though the newer version diaper I also have is a better quality velcro).  As of right now it works just as good as new.  Also, I get a very precise fit with this diaper that can be hard to achieve with snaps.
  • Elastic around legs and the back of the diaper
  • Internal gussets – no
  • Crossover tabs- No
  • Very trim

Absorbency-

I have used this diaper for naps and outside play with no leaks, we can go at least to 2 hours without a leak.  I also really like the inserts, they are very absorbant and trim, dry quickly and wash well.  If I am going out for a while I can also use 2 inserts in the same diaper, there is plenty of room for that.  I have found in the car on long drives I can use these diapers without concern.
  • Day use-excellent
  • Overnight- With extra stuffing and a booster I found this diaper worked overnight, but not as well as my fitteds.
  • Can be double stuffed with MiniMaestro inserts

Quality

I was very impressed when I read more about the MiniMaestro diaper.  I love companies that have a cause and most importantly that give those less fortunate.
From their website:
“At MINIMAESTROTM we take pride in making our product with high quality materials and ensuring that our products meet our exacting standards.
We only use new North-American made materials for our diapers, which provide our clients with peace of mind in respect to the quality and durability of our products.
The fabrics used for the inserts are certified to meet Oeko-Tex Standard 100. The PUL used for the outer waterproof shell of our diapers is CPSIA compliant and is manufactured exclusively using proven continuous solvent bond technology which offers the higher duty cycle, and outlasts all other laminating technologies.  It is guaranteed by the manufacturer against delamination providing that the care instructions are followed.
MINIMAESTROTM products are made by Petites-Mains, a non-profit organization that fights exclusion, poverty and violence. The manufacturer is located in Montreal, Quebec (Canada) and prides itself in providing fair work conditions and adequate wages for its workers.
The Petites-Mains‘ mission is to help people, mostly immigrant women, single, unemployed or living on Welfare. It encourages these women to come out of their isolation, to mingle with others, to learn a job, to integrate into the job market and to live with greater dignity in society.”

  • Materials used- PUL Exterior, Micro fleece interior, MiniMaestro inserts are made of 1 microfiber layer between 2 bamboo fleece layers.
  • Prints fabrics available- They offer one print that I could find, however more may be in the works. Visit the website and facebook page for examples
  • Durability- very durable, I have found the fleece is almost as soft as it was new.

Ease of Use-

  • Velcro works well and gets a close fit
  • Wash/dry ease- The insert almost always comes out of the wash by itself, which is very convenient.
  • Stuffing/unstuffing required- yes

Cost-

  • About $14 and you can also by the extra insert, which I really like and recommend.
